LONGHORN API FEATURE UPDATES
We do pretty robust releases frequently (depending on the type of changes). Our customers are always excited and appreciative that we’ve implemented changes based on their feedback. We are constantly improving the APIs but we wanted to share a few highlights from this month that we were particularly excited about.
NEW! ‘GET ADDRESS SUMMARY’ API (TOTALS)
We’re serious about wallets. That’s why we’re constantly adding new relevant data points for users to view the transactions details they need, the way they need it to verify their blockchain payments. In this v1.2.0 Beta release, we replaced the GetBalance API with GetAddressSummary. Totals are now so fast that they no longer needed a separate call. We added total number of transaction to the call, as well for a solid wallet summary.
GET MORE FROM ‘GET TRANSACTIONS’ API
We added more data points within the GetTransactions API, which significantly cuts down on additional subsequent calls to get the information you need. Check out the new additions:
- Running balance
- Running total sent
- Running total received
- Block first seen
- Number of confirmations
- Date and time (total inputs and outputs at the time)
In addition to the new data points above, the previous limit of 100 returned transactions in the request has been increased to 2,000.
NEW! ‘GET UNSPENT TRANSACTIONS’ API
Think of unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs) as paper bills. Each bill has a unique value assigned to it (i.e. in USD, we have $1, $5, $10, and so on). To complete a transaction, you must have bills valued at equal to or greater than the intended ‘send’ amount. For instance, if you intend to send 1.9 BTC to a wallet, you need exactly 1.9 BTC or greater value of UTXOs in order for the transaction to process.
We have made sending a blockchain transaction a simpler experience. You can easily build signed transactions referencing the UTXOs from our new API call.
Last but not least, it is important to note that our processing of totals has been reworked to calculate results at a near instant rate. As a result, we’ve added various totaling information throughout the system.
